Swedish horror film critic Patrik Karlsson from the genre site MONSTERDIGGARE recently conducted an interview with filmmaker Mike T. Lyddon covering Lyddon’s history in independent filmmaking among other topics.
Going back to the early 80s in Lyddon’s teen years making short no-budget horror movies on super-8 film all the way up to his latest two features – Cuentos de la Bruja aka Witch Tales which has just finished its year long film festival cycle and is heading into distribution in a few months, as well as his upcoming documentary on pre-code horror comic books of the 1950s.

Mike Lyddon’s screenplay for “The Cordyceps Principle” is an official selection in the screenplay competition at the 2020 Days of the Dead – Reels of the Dead film festival, February 7 – 9 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The original 25 minute short film is part of Lyddon’s HORROR ANTHOLOGY MOVIE VOL. 1 available on DVD.
The story revolves around an amateur photographer who fantasizes about killing his harping, bitch of a wife. One day while in the swamps doing a photo shoot, he discovers something that just might do the trick.
“I plan on having many copies of the movie available for sale at the convention.” Lyddon said. “I had great luck at the Charlotte DOTD event where I was able to sell a few dozen copies and I discovered that there are a lot of real indie horror movie fans who attend the Days of the Dead shows!”
After the screening at this year’s Horror On Sea Film Festival in the UK, a few film critics are now posting their reviews of WITCH TALES aka CUENTOS DE LA BRUJA, the new horror anthology movie from filmmaker Mike T. Lyddon.
The first review comes from Joseph Perry of Ghastly Grinning, and is overall a very good take on the indie film.
“Lyddon knows how to tell a fright-fare story well, and he paces the proceedings nicely.”
“Fans of vintage horror comics and horror anthologies…should find this film well worth seeking out.”
“The special effects led by Nanistronix Crimson are impressive, and the film doesn’t hold off on either splatter or grue.”
WITCH TALES will go into distribution in the Spring of 2020, so keep checking back for more info.
Filmmaker Mike T. Lyddon’s new horror anthology feature film made in Peru, CUENTOS DE LA BRUJA aka WITCH TALES has been nominated for Best Foreign Feature Film of 2019 at the 2020 Atlanta Days of the Dead – Reels of the Dead convention and film festival to be held February 7, 8, and 9.
The movie starring well known Peruvian actress Mayella Lloclla was an official selection at Days of the Dead last January 2019 and shown at the Atlanta film festival at that time.
Cuentos de la Bruja contains three stories based upon lesser-known pre-code horror comic books of the 1950s in the vein of Tales from the Crypt, etc.

Sacramento based Black Bed Sheet Books has picked up Mike Lyddon’s latest short horror story called “The House on Greenville Street” for publication in a new anthology being produced by Days of the Dead. This new horror anthology series will see books published from all cities DOTD has conventions in.
The first city is Atlanta with a convention coming up February 7 – 9, 2020.
The project, headed up by horror personality Joe Moe and the publishers at Black Bed Sheet Books, is a perfect way to introduce indie horror writers to a convention which is otherwise more concentrated on genre movies and the celebrities who attend them to sign autographs and do photo-ops.
Celeb guests attending Atlanta include Richard Dreyfuss and John Cusack.

Retro write-up for First Man on Mars.
Nice little article from Movies and Mania highlighting some news and reviews on Mike Lyddon’s sci-fi comedy indie feature film FIRST MAN ON MARS (2016), with quotes from a variety of revew sites.
“The script is chock full of sly pop culture and sci-fi references which actually make it better. There are a lot of great one-liners and clever dialogue.” UK Horror Scene
“The over the top gore, silly dialogue, and ridiculous plot will definitely remind you of Troma’s best films.” Anything Horror

Indie filmmaker Mike T. Lyddon has recently launched his author’s page at Amazon.com.
There are several of the volumes of MONSTER! which contain film and filmmaking articles written by Lyddon. MONSTER PARTY is a brand new horror anthology book that features his short story THING IN THE SHED.
Thing in the Shed was originally written as a screenplay by Lyddon and developed into a short film which was part of HORROR ANTHOLOGY VOLUME ONE (2013). The reception for the short film was very good with several critics calling it “very creepy” and “unique” in the indie horror genre. Bolstered by the critical acclaim, Lyddon did something rather unusual. He took the original story and screenplay he wrote and adapted it into prose, the exact opposite of what is usually done.
MONSTER PARTY is available in paperback or on Kindle, and free on Kindle Unlimited, so please visit Mike Lyddon’s Amazon Author’s page for more info.
